| Ans : The starch test is a method used to determine the presence of starch in a substance. For starch test following steps are followed:
1.Pick a plant leaf and immerse it in boiling water for five minutes. This makes the leaves soft.
2.Then keep the leaf immersed in lukewarm alcohol (50% ethanol) for some time.
3.Then take out the leaf and wash it well with clean water.
4.Put iodine solution in a beaker and submerge the leaf. It will be seen that the black has turned into a blue color. Due to the presence of starch, the color of the leaves has changed when iodine is added.
